The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include an incentive program.

Job Description

Enterprise Infrastructure, a part of Cox Automotive Product & Technology Group is looking for an Automation Engineer focused on Infrastructure Configuration as Code.

Our Team

At Cox Automotive Enterprise Infrastructure, we offer the chance for you to help contribute to the team in our Infrastructure Automation journey. You will be part of a team that is focused on automation, supporting the 3 strategic Cox Automotive data centers.

Your Role

  • Managing, supporting, and facilitating software solutions to automate provisioning, configuration management, and deployment of IT infrastructure using Python and YAML with Ansible and Terraform configuration management tools.
  • Support process improvement initiatives, identifying opportunities to streamline and automate operational workflows to enhance efficiency and reduce manual intervention.
  • Develop and standardize release pipelines for infrastructure components, ensuring smooth and efficient deployment processes that minimize downtime and enhance overall system reliability.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of DevOps and SRE principles, applying them effectively in daily operations to promote collaboration, transparency, and shared responsibility across cross-functional teams.
  • Actively contribute to an agile culture of ongoing knowledge sharing, continuous training, and relentless improvements, participating in team meetings, workshops, and training sessions to enhance your skills and expertise.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure teams to identify opportunities for automation and assist with develop strategies for infrastructure as code (IaC) adoption.
  • Optimize continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) pipelines by integrating automated processes and tools.
  • Develop and maintain documentation related to infrastructure automation, including architecture, workflows, and best practices.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to other team members on infrastructure automation best practices.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and emerging technologies related to infrastructure automation and software development.
  • Work closely with DevOps and software development teams to ensure seamless integration of infrastructure automation solutions.
  • Manage change effectively, ensuring that all system changes are carefully planned, tested, and implemented in accordance with established change management procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as 4 years’ experience in a related field.
  • Proficient in programming languages such as Python, Java, Ruby, or similar.
  • Experience with unit testing and integration testing frameworks to ensure the reliability and functionality of automated infrastructure solutions.
  • Familiarity with relational database concepts and experience in working with databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, or similar.
  • Experience with Ansible and Terraform.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, or CircleCI.
  • Basic understanding of operating system administration and networking concepts.
  • Knowledge of containerization technologies such as Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes is a plus.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP.
     

Preferred skills:

  • Experience with monitoring and logging tools like Solarwinds, New Relic, or similar.
  • Knowledge of security best practi
