We are seeking a Software Engineer with C/C++ to join our Physical Sciences & Systems business unit located a stone’s throw from seaside Newport, Rhode Island. Responsibilities will include but, are not limited to, SW leadership and customer interfacing, Linux software development in real-time multi-threaded platforms, integrating with custom hardware, and integrating with submarine networks, as well as implementation of control, detection, and tracking algorithms. The ideal candidate enjoys in a multi-disciplinary role and is comfortable adapting to and identifying new technologies as needed.

What You Will Do:

• Develop software for deployed DoD Linux real-time software systems hosted on VPX and server based solutions.
• Develop software and interface specifications for external recorders, sensors, and communication systems. Implementation expertise on Red Hat or Red Hawk Linux preferred.
• Collaborate with a cross-functional team testing your contributions and analyzing performance.
• Integrate components you develop into a larger system in preparation for real world testing and deployment.

Qualifications You Must Have:

• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and less than 2 years prior relevant experience or in absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience
• The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required 
• U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance 
• Experience developing software in and for a Red Hat Linux environment.

Qualifications We Prefer:

• Proficiency using C/C++
• Familiarity with Jira, Bitbucket, Confluence, or Coverity.
• Proficiency in MATLAB and/or optimizing algorithms in C/C++
• Experience with hard-real-time processing optimization
