Job Title:                    Software Engineer – Drive Systems

Location:                    8770 W. Bryn Mawr Ave., Suite 100, Chicago, IL 60631            

Rate of Pay:               $81,744.00/year to $95,937.00/year

 

Provide North American Engineering & Development with software background in the development of mining truck software including electric drive systems, and chassis; participate in the creation and maintenance of software architecture, control concept and flow chart for new research and development projects; develop semi-complex software code and technical documentation. Participate in the development of software requirements and design architecture, control concept and complex flow chart; Provide estimates for semi-complex modules under development and estimate amount of work; Create semi-complex code of drive system and chassis control software; Participate in the prototype software testing in the lab and travel to machine worksites when it’s needed; and create user instruction and troubleshooting manual. Up to 20% domestic travel to Texas and Arizona is required for conducting software bench test and Komatsu Proving Ground.

 

Telecommuting permitted - will have opportunity to work at various unanticipated locations throughout U.S.

Qualifications/Requirements

The position of Software Engineer – Drive Systems requires a bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent in Electrical/Computer Engineering or a related field and two years of experience in a related field.

 

Additionally, the applicant must have the following:

•           Experience with engineering principles including AC motor/generator, Inverter/converter, energy storage, etc.

•           Experience with C programing language;

•           Experience with developing hardware communication protocols.  

•           Experience with Micro-controllers and Embedded development.

•           Experience with programming, bench testing and debugging embedded systems.

 

Physical Requirements:  

  • While performing the duties of this job, the associate is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (life, carry, move) light to medium weights of 1-10 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read application information. The associate frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear.
