Role Overview

ID.me is at a pivotal growth phase, focusing on enhancing the quality of our software development processes. We are committed to transitioning from a framework that primarily relies on manual testing to one that significantly incorporates automated testing, ensuring efficiency, reliability, and high-quality software solutions.

 

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Software Development Manager to lead our Quality Assurance team. This role is crucial for overseeing both manual testers and software engineers in test, with a primary responsibility for ensuring top-notch quality assurance across all software development activities. The successful candidate will spearhead the transformation of our testing processes, moving towards a predominantly automated testing framework, while also managing metrics monitoring, playbook development, and fostering cross-functional alignment on quality standards.

Note, this position can also be based in our McLean, VA office.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the Quality Assurance team, comprising manual testers and software engineers in test, to ensure effective execution of testing strategies.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy to transition from manual to automated testing processes, aiming for a significant reduction in manual testing reliance.
  • Oversee the development, maintenance, and execution of automated testing frameworks and scripts.
  • Monitor and report on key quality metrics, including automated test coverage, defect rates, and other relevant performance indicators.
  • Collaborate with development, product, and operations teams to integrate quality assurance processes throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Establish and refine quality assurance policies, procedures, and standards to align with industry best practices.
  • Drive the creation and implementation of testing playbooks, ensuring consistent and efficient testing methodologies across projects.
  • Manage resources effectively to meet project deadlines and quality benchmarks.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, encouraging innovation and efficiency in testing practices.
  • Provide mentorship, guidance, and career development opportunities to team members.

Required skills

  • At least 5 years of experience in quality assurance, with a minimum of 2 years in a leadership or management role.
  • Proven track record of leading quality assurance teams in software development environments.
  • Extensive experience with automated testing tools and frameworks.
  • Strong understanding of software development methodologies and lifecycle.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive cross-functional collaboration and alignment on quality initiatives.
