The Software Development Engineer II is part of the Expedia Global Payments (EGP) team which builds innovative products, services, and tools that enable customers from all over the world to pay for travel in a variety of ways. We build, operate, and improve payment services for Expedia Group's brands, our suppliers (hoteliers, airlines, vacation rental owners/agencies, etc.), and our corporate needs. We do this accurately and at scale, processing over $100 billion payments in 55+ currencies in over 155 countries every year, and across a diverse set of payment options.

Technology and innovation are at the heart of EGP. We provide solutions that reduce the cost of payments and improve performance, scalability, availability, and resiliency. We also provide an abundance of functional support to services in our platform, and the needs are ever-growing, as we adapt to new payment solutions and capabilities. In this role, you will help drive the development of our payment platform and seamlessly roll out new payment methods and capabilities.

In this role, you will:

  • Build, operate, and improve payment services for our brands, partners, and customers

  • Creatively test and maintain software applications and related programs and procedures by using a variety of software development tools following design requirements of customer.

  • Continuously improve on our operational excellence and engineering practices.

  • Research and recommend frameworks and architectural/code design patterns

  • Build robust, well-designed and well-engineered distributed systems.

  • Apply software design principles, data structures and/or design patterns and computer science fundamentals to write code that is clean, maintainable, optimized, modular with good naming conventions

Experience & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or Masters in a related Technical field; or Equivalent related professional experience.

  • 2+ years of experience in back-end software development.

  • Experience working in at least 2 larger scale, multi-quarter projects as a part of a decentralized team and project.

  • Proficient in Java/Kotlin, J2EE, Spring Boot, and relational or NoSQL databases

  • Previous payments experience is a plus.

  • Familiarity with Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD).

  • Experience working in an Agile environment and collaborating across multiple teams.

The total cash range for this position in Austin is $112,000.00 to $156,500.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $179,000.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.

Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
