As part of this effort, the File Storage Service team is seeking hands-on engineers with expertise and passion in solving complex problems in distributed systems, large-scale storage, and highly available services. An engineer at this level will have a significant technical and business impact.
As a technical member of the team, you will own the software design and development for major components and features of the File Storage Service. You should be both a rock-solid coder and a distributed systems generalist, able to dive deep into any part of the stack and low-level systems, as well as design broad distributed system interactions. You should value simplicity and scalability, work comfortably in a collaborative and agile environment, and be excited to learn.
Basic Qualifications:
- BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to the functional area.
- 5+ years experience delivering and operating large scale, highly available distributed systems.
- Strong knowledge of C and experience with scripting languages such as Python, Perl, etc. Knowledge of JavaScript, React, and/or Go a plus.
- Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, operating systems, and distributed systems fundamentals.
- Working familiarity with file system protocols (NFS v3/v4, SMB) networking protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP) and standard network architectures.
- Strong understanding of file systems, storage, databases, and distributed persistence technologies
- Strong debugging and performance tuning skills.
- Experience building multi-tenant, virtualized infrastructure is a strong plus
Design, develop, troubleshoot, and debug software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks, etc.
As a member of the software engineering division, you will assist in defining and developing software for tasks associated with the development, debugging, or designing of software applications or operating systems. Provide technical leadership to other software developers. Specify, design, and implement changes to the existing software architecture to meet evolving needs.
Duties and tasks are varied and complex, needing independent judgment. Fully competent in own area of expertise.
Certain US customer or client-facing roles may be required to comply with applicable requirements, such as immunization and occupational health mandates.

US: Hiring Range in USD from: $79,800 to $178,100 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.
Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle’s differing products, industries and lines of business.
Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

8. Paid time off: Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. Accrued Vacation is provided to all other employees eligible for vacation benefits. For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
