The Yahoo! Consumer Data Team is developing a unified, cloud-native platform for all Yahoo user data. We simplify how teams access and utilize Yahoo first-party and third-party data while strengthening compliance. Our work empowers business units to enhance experimentation, monetization, marketing, and personalization with greater efficiency and reduced risk.

The ideal candidate will have solid experience in backend engineering with a focus on developing and maintaining scalable services. They should be passionate about building high-quality solutions to drive business outcomes and possess good collaboration skills to work effectively across teams.
As part of our Audience Platform, you'll play a key role in helping Yahoo leverage first-party and third-party data to build comprehensive audience solutions essential for experimentation, monetization, marketing, and personalization. This large-scale initiative offers you the chance to tackle significant technical challenges while making impactful contributions to how we responsibly utilize data assets across our ecosystem.
Responsibilities:
API Development: Implement robust and well-designed APIs that serve our web and mobile applications
Service Implementation: Build and maintain backend microservices that power key product features and functionality
Code Quality: Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code that meets our quality standards and best practices
System Reliability: Contribute to the design and implementation of resilient systems with appropriate error handling and fault tolerance
Performance Optimization: Identify and implement improvements to enhance system efficiency and responsiveness
Cross-team Collaboration: Work with product managers and other engineers to understand requirements and implement technical solutions
Production Support: Troubleshoot and resolve issues in production environments, participating in on-call rotations as needed
Technical Documentation: Create clear documentation for services, APIs, and integrations to support knowledge-sharing
Code Reviews: Participate in code reviews, providing constructive feedback to peers and incorporating feedback on your work
Continuous Learning: Stay current with relevant technologies and best practices, applying new knowledge to improve our systems
Requirements:
2-4 years of software engineering experience, with focus on backend development
Experience building and maintaining RESTful APIs and microservices
Familiarity with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes) is preferred
Understanding of distributed systems concepts and patterns
Solid fundamentals: algorithms, data structures, databases
Proficiency in at least one backend programming language such as Java, Python, Go, or Node.js
Good knowledge of SQL and experience with relational databases
Familiarity with NoSQL solutions (MongoDB, Cassandra, Redis) is a plus
Experience with messaging systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ) is a plus
Proficiency with version control systems (Git) and CI/CD pipelines
