Daily Operations
• Provides professional mental health services for MMC students, including initial assessment, counseling (individual and group), disposition planning and referral support, crisis intervention and management, and assumes on-call, after-hours emergency services responsibilities for and case management services as indicated
• Provides consultation to faculty and staff on issues relevant to student mental health concerns, behavioral intervention, and educational performance
• Develops, coordinates, and implements mental health outreach, training, and programming on psychological and mental health issues utilizing virtual and in person methods
• Provides clinical supervision and training to non-licensed trainees, including predoctoral psychology students and who provide counseling services to students
• Serves as a specialist within the Counseling and Wellness Center, providing information and resources to Counseling Center colleagues on resources such as community based clinical treatment options, social services, and wraparound services.
• Develops, updates, and maintains a database of referral information for off-campus clinical services (including outpatient, in patient, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient programs) that are relevant for our student populations
• Provides clinical case management services as needed or assigned by the Counseling and Wellness Center Director based on Center caseload needs
• Develops, coordinates, and implements mental health outreach, training, and programming on psychological and mental health issues utilizing virtual and in person met.
• Liaison with MMC student groups/leaders, attending periodic meetings of the various organizations.
• Holds weekly Let’s Talk Office hours in Student Affairs to provide informal consultation for students and helps to remove barriers to access behavioral/mental health services.
• Conducts training programs for staff and faculty, in order to educate the campus on mental health and developmental issues
• Assesses and summarizes ongoing MMC students’ needs
• Participates in Student Affairs and other University committees as assigned by the Director.
• Attends and participates in regular CS staff meetings, case conferences, and in-service/professional development training
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills
• Prior experience training and providing tele mental health services.
• Knowledge, insight, and creativity to support needs of a diverse student population.
• Training and experience in delivering compassionate, and culturally competent interventions.
• Demonstrates outstanding clinical skills and a well-integrated understanding of short-term therapy, crisis intervention, community consultation, and outreach/developmental programming
• Experience with crisis intervention and the ability to conduct risk assessments and manage potentially high-risk clients
• Have experience in training and supervision.
• Have experience with and commitment to working with diverse clients, including individuals from ethnically/racially diverse backgrounds, individuals representing varying sexual orientations, international students, and working cross-culturally.
• Demonstrates understanding and experience with college student developmental theory from graduate and professional levels.
• Excellent written, verbal communication and presentation skills required. Must have demonstrated ability in organizational, time management problem solving and interpersonal skills.
Required Education and Experience
• Master’s Degree in Social Work, or Counseling from an accredited institution.
• Licensed Social Worker (LICSW) in the State of Tennessee or the ability to obtain license within Six months of employment.
