Snowflake Data Platform Architect

Zelis is hiring a Snowflake Data Platform Architect who will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing Snowflake data warehouses and related solutions for an existing Data platform. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in data architecture, cloud computing, and Snowflake platform capabilities.

The Snowflake Platform Architect will be responsible for:

• Designing scalable and efficient data warehouse solutions using Snowflake architecture.

• Leading the architecture efforts & implementation of data platform on Snowflake, including data modeling, ETL/ELT processes, and data integration / dissemination / Data Sharing.

• Collaborating with data engineers, data scientists, and Product owners to understand data requirements and translate them into technical solutions.

• Performance tuning and optimization of existing platform to ensure high availability, reliability, costs, performance & security.

• Implementing security best practices and data governance policies within Data platform environments.

• Providing guidance and mentoring to team members on Snowflake best practices and techniques.

• Evaluating new Snowflake features and capabilities and recommending their adoption to improve overall functionality and also system performance.

• Troubleshooting and resolving issues related to Snowflake databases and data pipelines.

• Collaborating, designing, and enabling Snowflake Horizon features.

• Advanced Analytics - Demonstrated proficiency in implementing advanced analytics solutions within Snowflake, including forecasting, predictive modeling and anomaly detection, leveraging Cortex AI.

• Machine Learning Utilization- Proven track record of utilizing machine learning models directly within Snowflake to derive actionable insights from large datasets.

• Real-time Decision Making- Expertise in enabling real-time decision-making capabilities within Snowflake by integrating Cortex AI, enabling rapid responses to evolving business scenarios.

• Designing scalable batch/real time data pipelines (ETLs) to integrate data from a variety of sources into Data Warehouse and Data Lake

• Working in Data Lake, Data Warehouse Concepts and Dimensional Data Model.

• Maintaining awareness of and ensure adherence to Zelis standards regarding privacy.

• Creating and maintaining Architecture documents.

Required Experience:

• Minimum of 12 years of experience in data architecture, database design, and development; to include 5+ yrs with Snowflake

• Experience with cloud computing concepts and cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.

• SQL and Python experience with ETL/ELT tools and techniques.

• Snowflake certification(s) (e.g., SnowPro Core, SnowPro Advanced).

• Experience with SQL, indexes, stored procedures, triggers, functions, views, etc. 

Preferred Experience:

• Data modeling and schema design in Snowflake.

• MDM tools and implementation.

• Ability to design and implement highly scalable and performant data warehouse solutions.

• Data governance, security, and compliance requirements in a data warehouse environment.

• Git and Azure DevOps.

• Agile, Jira and Confluence.
