Smart City Project Manager/Architect

About the role
Symmetrio is actively recruiting for a Smart City Project Manger for our customer, a large government organization in Philadelphia, PA. This candidate will play a pivotal role in coordinating the deployment of smart meters, smart thermostats, lighting sensors, and energy management systems to optimize energy consumption, reduce waste, and enhance overall energy efficiency within the city.
Responsibilities
- Develop the overall system architecture and technology roadmap to meet the city's energy savings and sustainability goals, which include LEED Silver certification or higher
- Design and plan city-wide rollout of IoT sensors, building automation systems, and analytics software to provide real-time monitoring and optimization of energy usage
- Select hardware/software solutions including options like Azure IoT, AWS IoT, 75F, Honeywell, and Schneider Electric to enable smart lighting, HVAC, occupancy monitoring, etc.
- Establish smart alerting for issues like HVAC failures, using platforms such as Alertus Technologies and ServiceChannel
- Ensure cybersecurity, privacy, and compliance with all systems and data
- Leverage KPIs and data analytics to continually refine solutions and achieve sustainability targets
- Stay up-to-date on the latest smart cities best practices and technologies such as LEED v5
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Project Management, Information Technology, Engineering).
- Proven experience in project management, particularly in the implementation of IoT devices for energy management.
- Strong understanding of smart city concepts, energy systems, and IoT technologies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams and work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
- Familiarity with relevant regulations and standards in the smart city and energy management domains.
Preferred Skills:
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
- Experience in working with smart meters, smart thermostats, lighting sensors, and energy management systems.
- Knowledge of data analytics and visualization tools.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity principles in IoT deployments.
