Slitter Operator

Description

SUMMARY

Responsible for setting up and operate  slitting machine, ensuring consistent quality and production output by following safety and production procedures while maintaining the machine's functionality throughout the process. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 Include the following duties: 

• Examines articles for defects, proper identification & quantity
• Attaches identification tag and conveys materials from receiving to storage or to other designated areas.
• Performs set ups on arbor and separator discs.
• Bands master coil onto un-coiler as required by order
• Controls trim width to maintain width quality.
• Bands recoiled sits and transfers coils to payoff
• Down ends slits to palletize coils as needed
• Removes scrap as needed
• others assigned by lead or Supervisor

Requirements

Education and/or Experience

 High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or three to six months related manufacturing experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

Language Skills

 Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  

Mathematical Skills

 Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry, 

Reasoning Ability

 Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability, to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Forklift Certification.
