Our season kicks off in April and runs through November, with the possibility of extending into December. As a seasonal team member, you’ll enjoy winters off to travel, hunt, fish, or pursue the activities you love—while still keeping your benefits all year long.

As a Lead Driver you are responsible for operating Dump Trucks and maintaining them properly to transport material to designated location in a timely manner. Additionally, the Lead Drive is to work closely with Dispatch to help plan daily workloads of other drivers, assist in directing support trucks, and help identify issues in the field that need to be addressed or improved upon.

Typical schedule is Monday - Friday 6:00 AM - 6:00 PM with frequent Saturdays as needed.

DUTIES AND/OR RESPONSIBILITIES (summary of components that make up the job)

  1. Assist in creating weekly work and trucking schedules for support trucks.
  2. Assist in directing the drivers and support trucks in the field to determine job order and final destination of loads.
  3. Direct and assist with spring start up maintenance on the fleet.
  4. Inspect and assist others with truck for defects before and after trips and submit report indicating truck condition. Ensure proper pre-trip and post-trip inspection are being done correctly, maintain driver log according to FMCSA regulations as required.
  5. Monitor drivers with daily maintenance of equipment such as cleaning truck inside and out, greasing, oiling, brakes, lights and any other maintenance instructed to perform.
  6. Conduct daily work plans and weekly toolbox talks with the drivers.
  7. Will conduct coaching and disciplinary action of drivers.
  8. Safely operate Class B truck to transport aggregate to job site often driving on uneven or unfinished surface.
  9. May operate loader to load aggregate into truck box
  10. Recognize surroundings and practice traffic awareness to maintain a safe environment.
  11. Tarp load when needed
  12. Clean spilled material/buildup off box (spill chutes, belts, side boards, etc.)
  13. Verify that gates are closed
  14. Complete load tickets
  15. Assist construction crews while waiting to unload
  16. Spread product
  17. Maintain proper information in truck cab pouch
  18. Report information accurately and completely on daily timecards, truck cab information and other needed paperwork.
  19. Maintain and support a safe and harassment free work environment.
  20. Ensure OSHA, DOT, EPA, DNR, MSHA, Federal, State, and Local safety and environmental regulation compliance and attend required training.
  21. Performs other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITITES (types and extent of knowledge, skills or abilities an incumbent must possess to complete the job responsibilities satisfactorily)

  1. Ability to communicate effectively (verbal, listening, written).
  2. Ability to read maps and navigate to new locations.
  3. Must be self-motivated, team-player with excellent interpersonal skills; ability to maintain positive customer relations and act courteous and respectful toward others.
  4. Ability to work with minimum supervision and recognize matters needing attention and initiate action on that recognition.
  5. Minimum 4 years previous experience leadership or supervisory role.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS (minimum educational, experience, or other relevant job requirements)

  1. General education, grammar and arithmetic, GED or high school diploma or equivalent
  2. CDL Class B (straight truck) license. Preference given for experience driving a belly dump, flow boy, lowboy, tanker or straight truck.
  3. Must have and maintain medical card and acceptable driving record and required endorsements.

COMPENSATION:

$27.00 - $32.00 per hour depending on experience.
