Union Tank Car Company is seeking a Shop Operations Clerk at our full-service rail tank car repair shop.  The Company’s regulatory, engineering and commercial expertise make UTLX the preferred source of railcars and services for many of its customers. UTLX offers competitive compensation and benefits as well as an opportunity to be a part of a top-notch team where enthusiasm, expertise, and progressive thinking are valued.ResponsibilitiesReporting to the Office Manager, the Shop Operations Clerk is responsible for backing up and assisting office functions as required to ensure efficient shop operations. Primary responsibilities and/or essential functions include, but are not limited to:

• Receive cars – OTMA Approvals – Last Contents
• Dispo request and Creation of Waybills
• Enter and update scheduled release date’s (SRD)
• Upload Billing Repair Card (BRC) into customer websites
• Obtain and track approvals
• Release and invoice car records
• Payroll/attendance
• Ensure car files are easily accessible and processed as required
• Manage enroute board as required

Skills/Education/Experience

• Be willing to assist on off shift as needed
• Be responsive to customer communications
• Work responsibly and efficiently with limited supervision/direction
• Be willing to take on other tasks and support all areas of operation
• Multitask with good problem-solving skills and offer solutions to problems
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Detail oriented with excellent organizational and time management skills
• High School Diploma required
