Description

Summary:

The Shipping Technician is responsible for coordinating and managing Manufacturing Orders (MOs) to ensure efficient movement of products into and out of the shipping department. Supports the execution of an organized shipping plan and ensures compliance with all required documentation and procedures. Provides clerical and operational support to the Shipping Supervisor and Shipping Manager.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Verify electronic records and label specifications through print proofs; maintain real-time electronic files to support accurate label printing.
  • Collect and input shipping plan data multiple times daily, promptly reporting discrepancies to the Shipping Supervisor.
  • Prepare and maintain packing lists, Bills of Lading, shipping labels, and other required documentation to ensure compliance.
  • Monitor shipping material inventory, record receipts in Great Plains, and alert the Shipping Manager when stock levels fall below thresholds.
  • Assist in preparing shipments in Simply RFID, coordinating with the Shipping Supervisor for final review and upload to government systems (VIM and WAWF).
  • Coordinate RFID scanning with material handlers; print and apply RFID labels at box and pallet levels in collaboration with forklift operators.
  • Support truck loading operations to ensure accurate product placement and timely shipment release.
  • Report potential issues that may delay or prevent the timely delivery of garments to the Shipping Manager.
  • Manage receipt and processing of irregular or incomplete garments, including degradation in Great Plains and coordination with subcontractors (e.g., Pinebelt).
  • Handle receipt, fulfillment, and shipment of commercial merchandise (e.g., flags), ensuring client-specific requirements are met.
  • Provide support to other departments by creating shipping labels and scheduling pickups via UPS and FedEx portals/apps.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience:

  • High School diploma or GED required; Associate degree in Business Administration or a related field preferred.
  • At least two years of experience in a warehouse or distribution environment; background in apparel manufacturing is a plus.
  • Proficiency with Great Plains MRP and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong mathematical aptitude and organizational skills; prior experience with supervisory or team motivation techniques is desirable.
