Position Summary:

Supervises the performance of all warehouse activities while being conscious of inventory control procedures, as well as business and customer service objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Manages transportation sector 50% of the time
• Shipping responsibilities 35% of the time
• Receiving responsibilities 15% of the time
• Oversight of department safety 
• Responsibility for fork truck certifications and recertifications of employees
• Negotiations of expedited freight
• Administer all Shipping and Receiving activities, including incoming and outgoing materials; First In, First Out (FIFO); staging, scanning and inspections 
• Oversee Shipping and Receiving lift truck drivers and ensure that they follow all safety procedures
• Monitors customer schedule and changes and notifies Plant and Production Managers of fluctuating needs 
• Keep proper documentation of incoming and outgoing shipments 
• Communicate with customers and suppliers for suitable scheduling and customer service 
• Communicate with Logistics and Planning Manager for forecasting 
• Distribute production orders including production labels to Line Leaders to ensure production will meet demand 
• Notifies Management and Maintenance for service requirements to ensure minimal downtime in shipping 
• Dispute detrimental or inapt ratings from customers 
• Train new employees in Shipping and receiving 
• Review shipment releases daily 
• Coordinate trucks for shipping as needed 
• Review foreign shipments and alert Plant Manager of any discrepancies 
• Prepare and transmit EDI (Advanced Shipment to customers) within 30 minutes of departure 
• Track delivery performance and follow up on potential delivery issues 
• Monitor customer returnable bins that need to be returned 
• Keep track of finished merchandise prepared to ship 
• Verify suppliers provide appropriate material 
• Create shippers required for empty bins owned by suppliers 
• Ensure raw product bins are stored and organized appropriately 
• Other duties as assigned
