About the role
As a Shipping Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in our manufacturing facility's logistics. Your primary responsibility will be to coordinate and oversee the shipping and receiving processes, ensuring timely and accurate movement of goods. You will work closely with our production team to understand their needs and ensure a smooth flow of materials. Additionally, you will be responsible for maintaining a safe and organized work environment, utilizing your skills in forklift and overhead crane operation.
- Coordinate and manage shipping and receiving activities, ensuring efficient and timely operations.
- Collaborate with the production team to understand material requirements and maintain an accurate inventory.
- Operate forklift and overhead crane equipment to move and store materials safely.
- Implement and maintain a clean and organized warehouse, ensuring a safe working environment.
- Prepare and process shipping documents, including bills of lading and customs paperwork.
- Communicate with carriers and logistics providers to arrange transportation and track shipments.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies during shipping and receiving processes.
- Maintain accurate records of incoming and outgoing shipments, including tracking numbers and delivery status.
- Resolve any shipping-related issues or delays, providing timely updates to relevant stakeholders.
- Assist in inventory management, conducting regular audits to ensure accuracy and optimize stock levels.
- Computer proficiency, particularly with Microsoft Office Suite, for documentation and record-keeping.
- Experience in a manufacturing or logistics environment, with a focus on shipping and receiving operations.
- Knowledge of forklift and overhead crane operation.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, ensuring accurate record-keeping and inventory management.
- Excellent communication skills to coordinate with internal teams and external logistics providers.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously, prioritizing effectively.
- Safety-minded approach, with a commitment to maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to regulations.
- Basic understanding of customs procedures and documentation for international shipments (preferred).
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and systems used in logistics management.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Additional education or certifications in logistics or supply chain management are a plus.
