Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:  Shipping Clerk will be based at our manufacturing facility in Frankfort, Illinois. As a key member of the Customer Service team, the Shipping Clerk has two (2) principle functions - (1) clerical and (2) order picker. This position is responsible for providing customer service, order picking, labeling, and shipping orders as well as filing related paperwork and maintaining a clean and organized shipping / receiving dock.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:  may include some of the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Clerical:

• Print labels and matches with AR’s in queue.
• Prepare BOL’s applies to the designated products and routes to locations needed for drivers to sign.
• Schedule carries as needed.
• Send ASN’s and customer shipping documents on same day.
• File BOL’s on same day, truck pick-ups to be filled next day.
• Receive customer orders, and / or releases from customer service team.

Order Picker:

• Pick parts for shipment and prepare shipping labels. 
• Communicate with appropriate truck lines for pick-up. 
• Send shipping documents to foreign customers in advance to confirm carriers as required.  Communicate with customer service / production team if orders can’t be filled.
• Transport freight to staging area. 
• Follow specific shipping practices for each customer based on customer preferences--i.e., color coding, packing specifications, stacking preference, etc.
• Package orders for shipment using applicable materials and equipment.
• Load trucks using hand jack, forklift or other appropriate equipment.
• Unload verified freight from delivery trucks and places in designated inspection areas. 
• Forward packing list / freight bills to the appropriate receiving inspector and / or completes the receiving tasks if needed to.
• Maintain a safe, clean and organized shipping / receiving dock daily.

Qualifications

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Must be able to operate a forklift and hand jack
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs, specifically Word and Excel
• Employee must frequently lift and or move up to 50 pounds
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus
• The employee is frequently required to stand and or sit for long periods of times
• Employee must frequently bend, twist and turn body
• See and read a computer screen and printer matter with or without vision aids
• Hear, speak and understand speech at normal levels and on the telephone

DESIRED SKILLS

• Demonstrated experience with ERP systems
• Knowledge of Trans4M ASN system in order to process customer based ASN requirements
• Knowledge of additional shipping software such as UPS Fed Ex and DHL
• One (1) year of more of prior shipping/receiving experience
