Shift Manager Operations

Cleveland-Cliffs Steel has an immediate opportunity for a Shift Manager Operations at our Zanesville Works operation. The Shift Manager Operations is responsible for coordinating daily activities of the operation site, supervising hourly crews, and improving overall efficiency by utilizing the proper resources and all of their components. The ideal candidate will have prior manufacturing union supervision experience, be self-motivated and thrive in a fast-paced work environment with complex operations. 

Summary of Responsibilities

• Schedules routine activities. Supervises completion of work assignments and follows established department plans
• Maintains general discipline of the crew in meeting the daily production, safety and quality objectives. Instructs personnel in job requirements, company rules and practices
• Coordinates production and maintenance activities with different departments, assists in developing continuous improvement plans
• Monitors site's operation, adheres to safety, environmental, quality, and productivity performance standards and performs regular audits
• Leads employees' training and performance review programs. Improves overall production, processes and services efficiency
• Improves overall production, processes, and services efficiency 
• Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma
• 2 years of supervisory experience in a heavy manufacturing environment  
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skill 
• Strong computer skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office products 
• Union supervision experience
• Occasional alternate shifts and holidays required

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree
• Manufacturing experience, steel preferred 
• Knowledge of slitting and shipping a plus
• Union supervision experience
