SerVermont Training and Curriculum Development Specialist - Limited Service

Overview

SerVermont, Vermont's State Service Commission, has an opportunity for an individual with passion for national service to make a difference in the lives of Vermonters by serving as a Training and Curriculum Development Specialist for all national service programs in Vermont. We are seeking a professional with the skillset to educate and train adults, knowledge of national service programming, and a passion for AmeriCorps, to join our team and oversee our training efforts.

The position will afford the right individual the opportunity to independently manage all aspects of our training program and conferences for AmeriCorps State program staff and members, as well as our AmeriCorps Seniors partners, and bring their experience to enhance our training offerings and conferences. This individual will be organizing conferences, training AmeriCorps program staff and members directly, and collaborating with grantee organizations to develop our training and education offerings. Preference will be given to candidates with national service and AmeriCorps program management experience.

Founded in 1993, AmeriCorps State is the direct service branch of AmeriCorps. Vermont's AmeriCorps State Programs are funded and administered by SerVermont which is housed within the Agency of Human Services. Since 1994, 6,400 Vermont residents have served approximately 9.5 million hours and earned education awards totaling more than $23.6 million. AmeriCorps State in Vermont is "Getting Things Done!"

Vermont hosts over 2,200 AmeriCorps members and AmeriCorps Seniors volunteers annually at more than 400 service locations and is currently recognized as the #3 AmeriState for having the 3rd most AmeriCorps members per-capita. Additionally, SerVermont manages volunteers in the event of disasters, and supports other volunteer efforts.

This position, SerVermont Training and Curriculum Development Specialist - Limited Service (Job Requisition #49526), is open to all State employees and external applicants. It is a Limited Service position, which is non-tenured and authorized for a specific period of time. Limited Service positions are established for specially funded projects or programs.

Environmental Factors

Duties are carried out in a variety of settings including standard office, classroom, facilities of a resource provider, or even in an on-the-job setting. Considerable travel is involved for which private means of transportation must be available. Position duties may require performance outside of normal work days and hours. Tight deadlines for organization and presentation of proposal and programs can occur. Strong and differing opinions may arise as to the nature, content, method of delivery, etc. of training programs, which should be positively channeled to achieve program enrichment. Changes in available funding may necessitate sudden program modifications.

Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree in the broad field of education, psychology, or human services 

OR

Bachelor's degree in the broad field of education, psychology, or human services AND two (2) years or more of experience in the broad field of employee training, curriculum development, staff development, psychology, human services or education, INCLUDING one (1) year or more in a formal employee or client development program.
