Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Principal / Sr Principal Software Test Engineer - 10445-1 / 12553-1. This position will be located in Roy, Utah or Colorado Springs, CO and will support the Sentinel program.

What You’ll Get To Do:

Responsible for development and execution of automated and manual test cases to verify functional software requirements.
This will include the following activities:

• Assist in the design, development, and implementation of testing methods and equipment.
• Test planning, execution, reporting, and integration support.
• Prepare detailed test reports and support formal verification of the system.
• Compile data and define changes required in test equipment, test procedures, or new test requirements.
• Perform data analysis against requirements and interfaces for each software build or hardware component.
• Interface with software developers and systems engineers in support of verification.
• Product integration, regression, and verification testing including checkout in system test labs.

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.  This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Principal Software Test Engineer: Bachelor's degree with 5 years of experience; or Master's degree with 3 years of experience; or PhD with 1 year of experience. 4 additional years of experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree.

  • Sr Principal Software Test Engineer: Bachelor's degree with 8 years of experience; or Master's degree with 6 years of experience; or PhD with 4 years of experience. 4 additional years of experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree.

Required for Both Levels:

  • Must be a US Citizen with an active DoD Secret Clearance with an investigation date within the last 6 years at time of application with

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs

  • Experience with Java, C++, and or Python

  • Experience working Software Test, SW Development and/or Systems Engineering

  • Understanding of the software development lifecycle and agile development methodology


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM)

  • Experience with IBM Rational
