Northrop Grumman Strategic Deterrent Systems division is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer / Mechanical Engineer for the Air Vehicle Equipment (AVE) Integration and Test (I&T) Lab Design and Integration (D&I) team. This position is located in Roy, UT and supports the Sentinel program.

What You’ll Get to do:

The selected candidate will be responsible for the design, development, and release of multiple Special Test Equipment (STE) and/or Support Equipment (SE) engineering solutions and Product Definition Packages (PDP’s).  This role provides the opportunity to handle multiple assignments in a dynamic lab test environment to meet program needs.  Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to) the following:

  • Design and integrate mechanical solutions that are verified through analysis to facilitate lab tests
  • Develop CAD models and 3D model based drawings using Siemens NX and Team Center
  • Deliver required PDP’s on time to meet test objectives
  • Ensure the developed PDP’s meet the design requirements from the various stakeholders
  • Identify gaps within a design and/or requirements and provide a solution/path forward that has minimal impacts
  • Provide support to Manufacturing, Procurement, Lab Integration and Test
  • Develop installation drawings and layout diagrams for the test line

Basic Qualifications:

This position can be filled as an Engineer (level 2) or a Principal Engineer (level 3) depending on candidate experience and qualifications.

  • Principal Mechanical Engineer: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related STEM with 5 years of experience; or Master's degree with 3 years of experience.
  • Mechanical Engineer: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related STEM field and 2 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree with 0 years of experience
  • 1+ years of experience using CAD design tools (i.e. NX, CATIA, Solidworks, etc.).
  • 1+ years of experience with mechanical equipment design, preferably following military and/or aviation standards.

Required for Both Levels:

  • Ability to effectively communicate issues and help provide solutions across multiple teams/disciplines
  • Ability to operate independently with minimal supervision, function in a dynamic environment, and be flexible to changing direction
  • Experience with design/fabrication techniques for structural details, assemblies, and/or installations.
  • Experience using product lifecycle management (PLM) or Product Data management (PDM) tools.
  • Familiarity with common engineering standards (ISO, ASME, Mil Spec, NAS, etc.)
  • Knowledge of GD&T, materials selection, and manufacturing processes
  • Proficient written and verbal communication skills when conveying technical content
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Must have the ability and be willing to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government DoD security clearance (Secret, Top Secret, etc.).
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period, as determined by the company to meet its business need.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with ICBMs or launch equipment systems
  • Experience in creating a Product Definition Package (PDP) or PDP like products
  • Experience with the ASME Y14.X suite of engineering drawing standards
  • Ability to work closely with multiple functional organizations (Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Field Operations, etc.)
  • Experience with Siemens NX and Teamcenter CPLM (Common Product Lifecycle Management) tools
  • 2+ year of experience using product lifecycle management (PLM) tools<
