The Weld Process Engineer is the technical focal for all weld processes within the fuel nozzle business. The Weld Process Engineer works closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality & Operations team(s) to identify process improvement opportunities along with process development for new products.
What You Will Do
- Weld process development, daily production support & continuous improvement activities in West Des Moines and Carroll.
- Create & maintain process documentation including PQRs, WPS, setup sheets and standard work.
- Support design engineering team with materials, process & joint selection.
- Weld tooling design support.
- Planning and executing capital projects related to welding in order to support cost reduction & capacity planning activities.
- Training operations and maintenance personnel for supporting and operating weld equipment.
- Maintain weld operator certification process.
- Work closely with maintenance & manufacturing engineers to troubleshoot process and/or quality issues to identify root cause and implement corrective action(s).
- Responsible for continued learning of welding technologies & applications and awareness of the current state of the industry.
- Actively participates & contributes to developing manufacturing plans for new product introduction.
- Lead customer and industry quality compliance audits (NADCAP) for welding and own all improvement activities that result.

- Quality Compliance: Learn to lead customer and industry quality compliance audits (NADCAP) for welding and implement improvement activities based on audit findings.
Qualifications You Must Have
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience
- Must be a U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or granted refugee or asylee status) as defined here: https://www.ecfr.gov/current/title-22/chapter-I/subchapter-M/part-120/subpart-C/section-120.62
Qualifications We Prefer
- Hands-on practical experience with welding including GTAW, resistance welding & laser welding.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, welding, materials or equivalent.
- Currently holds or has ability to achieve Certified Weld Inspector designation
- Knowledge of non-destructive testing including X-ray, FPI, etc. related to aerospace weld quality standards.
- 1+ year manufacturing experience within Aerospace Industry.
