Senior Technical Lead, Front-End

While in Vanguard Personal Advisor Select, you’ll help us build and evolve our advice capabilities to serve the needs of our advisors and our investors. You will join an agile team with a co-located product owner, scrum lead, and a group of engineers, driving towards disrupting the world of advice through innovative solutions. You help drive our journey as we modernize our platforms for cloud-native solutions based on micro-front ends, microservices, and beyond.

Your team’s initial project will transition our Personal Advisor Select website from a single application to individually hosted micro-front ends and supporting consumer-based web services enabling us to more rapidly delivery new features to both Vanguard clients and internal advisors. You will have a hand in evolving our technology stack utilizing the latest versions of Angular, Nest, NX, TypeScript, AWS ECS/Fargate, and more. From there you will help set the vision of what comes next for the platform through innovation, experimentation, and proof-of-concepts.

In this role, you will:

• Provide technical leadership to your team, set the technical vision for your product, and provide informal coaching to the 4-5 engineers on the team.
• Work on a cross-functional product team where your deep understanding front-end engineering and user interface development will be called upon to translate advanced designs into accessible, semantic markup and responsive web pages.
• Collaborate with product owners, UX designers, data analysts, scrum masters, and developers to develop a world-class user experience. Recommend and effectively explain improvements in functionality, and UX elements that enable users to achieve their goals. Be an expert in building working relationships across teams.
• Research, advocate and implement industry standard coding methodologies to improve workflows through the selection of evolving technologies and tools that your team will use to build expert-level user experiences.
• Develop and continually improve client-side and server-side architecture for web applications.
• Strengthen full-stack engineering practices for your team and product family

What it takes:

• Minimum of eight years related work experience, with at least three years of development experience.
• Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience. Graduate degree preferred.
• Expertise with front-end client-side development, frameworks, and patterns such as Angular, Redux, TypeScript, or other modern frameworks.
• Expertise with developing responsive, accessible, secure, and performant web applications
• Working knowledge of or interest in emerging UI patterns such as micro frontends.
