SUMMARY

We are looking for a Sr. Systems Engineer who will be responsible for maintaining and improving their Network Infrastructure, VPN Infrastructure, Gateway/Firewall Infrastructure as well as implementing best practices for monitoring those infrastructure components moving forward. The position will serve as the highest point of escalation for all VPN/Firewall issues and will also work closely with the broader Infrastructure group as a senior member of the team contributing to new projects and architecture upgrades to help enhance the overall IT environment. This individual is expected to operate at a senior level and own the areas listed above, which includes being able to clearly present and communicate challenges, opportunities, and projects for their area of responsibility.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage and improve the Networking infrastructure (LAN, WAN, and WLAN)
Manage and improve the VPN Infrastructure
Manage and improve the Gateway/Firewall Infrastructure
Manage and improve a monitoring solution for the above technologies
Perform maintenance on the above systems
Automate lower level tasks through delegation and scripting
Ensure proper uniformity, documentation, and configuration control of the above technologies

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor Degree in IS or equivalent experience, and 6+ years of experience serving in a network and systems engineering capacity with a proven history working with networking equipment & protocols (LAN, WAN, & WLAN) at an engineering level (Cisco & Meraki preferred)
Must be a subject-matter expert working with client and site-to-site VPN equipment and technology at an engineering level (Palo Alto Preferred)
Very experienced working with Application Gateways & Firewall equipment at an engineering level (Palo Alto preferred)
Experience working in a data center with physical equipment, cabling, etc.
Full OSI Model technology stack mastery for troubleshooting
Able to document work performed for cross pollination and repeatability.
Able to present & plan projects, problems, & challenges for the area of responsibility
Motivated and energetic team player
Able to work independently and own tasks to completion
Ability to obtain and maintain a United States (US) Department of Defense (DoD), Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) or Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Security Clearance.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience with Linux as a Systems Administrator (CentOS/RHEL/Rocky preferred)
Experience with Windows as a Systems Administrator (2012 R2 and newer)
Experience with VMWare 6.x and newer
Able to write custom and complex scripts, as well as maintain existing scripts with source control (PowerShell, Python, Ansible, or bash preferred)
Experience working with reverse proxies (nginx preferred)
Experience with backup solutions and Disaster Recovery
Experience with storage server solutions
Active TS/SCI Security clearance
