Summary

In this role, the Senior Systems Engineer will join the Ansys Government Initiatives (AGI) IT Infrastructure Team and will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing AGI’s Windows Server Systems, Active Directory Services, VMware Infrastructure and Horizon, Pure Storage, Veeam Backup Solution, and physical datacenter presence. The individual will work with various Business Departments and IT Teams to implement new projects, architect systems upgrade and design, and sustain security compliance to support AGI’s IT service delivery. The delivery of IT Services should be supported by means of automation where applicable to increase efficiencies and consistency. This individual is expected to operate at a senior level and own the areas listed above, which includes being able to clearly present and communicate challenges and opportunities. The individual should be self-driven, motivated, and require minimal supervision. The individual should demonstrate flexibility and adaptation of a dynamic IT environment.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Support and maintain VMWare virtualization (vCenter and Horizon) and SAN infrastructure (Pure) to meet and exceed development operations growth expectations
• Support and manage Veeam backup operations including replication and offsite data management.
• Manage and improve Microsoft Active Directory Services, RBAC, Group Policy, Windows Servers, desktops, applications, and file services (SMB/NFS).
• Support and manage data center operations encompassing power, cabling, PDU, storage, physical\virtual servers, equipment racking and cooling operations.
• Support execution of IT infrastructure projects to support Business growth and security compliance.
• Support IT infrastructure level 3 support / triage and maintenance where necessary  
• Ensure proper uniformity, documentation, and configuration control of technology platform, processes and projects.
• Automate tasks through scripting such as PowerShell.

 

Minimum Education & Experience

• Competent with managing and maintaining VMware virtual infrastructure and storage.
• Competent with a proven history working with Windows Servers (2016 and newer).
• Competent with a proven history working with Active Directory, RBAC, DNS, DFS, GPO, File Services, Print Services.
• Experience with IT security, certificates/ PKI, vulnerability and patch management.
• Experience with Azure or AWS based environments and solutions.
• Able to write custom and complex scripts, as well as maintain existing scripts with source control (PowerShell preferred).
• Experience with Veeam backup solutions and Disaster Recovery.
• Full technology stack understanding for troubleshooting (network, storage, infrastructure (servers), cloud, applications, etc.).
• Able to document work performed for cross pollination and repeatability. 
• Able to present and plan projects, problems, and challenges for the area of responsibility.
• Ability to execute projects based upon charter and requirements.
