Raytheon is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer (Hardware Engineering) to perform satellite communication (SATCOM) operations and maintenance (O&M) and ground systems (hardware) engineering tasks. Additionally, you will provide subject matter expertise for future communication system designs, projects, and upgrades.  This is a day staff position. However, you will be a part of an integral 24/7 operations environment, so off-duty call-in support will be required on a rotating basis. Location: Near Springfield, Virginia

What You Will Do

• Perform system fault isolation, real-time manual actions to restore system functionality, discrepancy report work-off, O&M training/mentoring, procedure development, data collection and trend analysis.
• Collaborate with other team members, contractors, and/or stakeholders to validate operational performance and capabilities. 
• Contribute to the development of new concepts that will provide value to the customer. 
• Support integration and testing projects when needed.
• Performance of O&M activities will include working in a datacenter and outside.  Outside work will include, but not limited to, climbing multiple sets of stairs, working at heights, lifting/carrying up to 50lbs, and working in nonenvironmental-controlled workspaces.

Qualifications You Must Have  

• Typically requires a Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM preferred) and a minimum of 5 years of prior engineering experience or equivalent experience.
• Experience with SATCOM (operations or sustainment), SATCOM theory, and/or hands-on experience with SATCOM subsystems.
• Experience with IT systems (servers, desktop computers, routers, switches, etc.) and SATCOM-related test equipment (spectrum analyzer, multimeter, signal generator, etc.)
• An active and transferable TS/SCI CI Poly U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for the required security clearance.

Qualifications We Prefer

• Prior SATCOM O&M experience (military, defense contractor, or commercial)
• Windows and Linux
• Experience with facility support systems for SATCOM systems (power, HVAC, IDS, etc.)
• Security+ certification or higher
• COMSEC experience
