Senior System Engineer

About the role
Sr. Systems Operations Engineer position to provide technical support, maintenance and management of complex solutions that span across multiple enterprise technical streams. This role has a focus on enterprise systems in a global enterprise datacenter environment including virtualization, compute and storage technologies.

 

What you'll do

• Partners with business leaders to deliver services that support company objectives and that are consistent with Winning Together values.
• Ensure that support, maintenance, and configuration work adhere to defined standards and best practices and/or assist in the development of these standards and best practices.
• Routinely research, analyze, test, retest, and troubleshoot complex problems.
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment with defined Service Level Agreements and Objectives.
• Proven experience in knowledge transfer, documentation and information sharing while staying abreast of new technology/technical areas.
• Provide advanced technical experience for complex troubleshooting and systems maintenance work, including functional subsystem upgrades for mission-critical devices and services as well as strategic upgrades to the environment.
• Support and maintain complex enterprise virtualization, compute and data systems.
• Provide advanced expertise in the development of systems test, validation, and integration plans on select projects, and assurance of systems integrity.
• Time management and the ability to multitask between several ongoing projects.
• Effectively maintain Incident and Change tracking cadence via ITSM platform as well as communications with primary estate owners when necessary. 
• Understand and maintain Service Level Agreement goals. 
• Embrace and support Computacenter’s mission and core values.

 

What you have

• 5+ years of professional experience in large enterprise environments
• Professional systems certifications a plus (i.e. VMware, Cisco UCS, etc.)
• Legally eligible to work in the United States.
• Day to day support experience with VMware virtualization technologies. Understanding of associated networking and operating systems. Code patching/upgrade management.
• Solid Understanding of enterprise compute, data storage and backup concepts and technologies. Understanding of basic datacenter networking concepts. 
• Experience with supporting leading vendor compute and data storage environments. (Cisco UCS, Pure Storage a plus.)
• Demonstrated confidence to deliver customer-facing discussions.
• Excellent verbal articulation, written communications
• Hands-on technical skills, including complex configuration, troubleshooting, code upgrades and installation of enterprise systems equipment.
