Position Status: Exempt
Work Hours: Mon–Fri. Ability to work some evenings and Saturdays; secondary holidays may be a scheduled workday.
Reports To: Director of IT Enterprise Infrastructure
Location: This role is performed onsite in Orchard Park, NY
Position Summary:
The Senior System Administrator serves as a technical leader within the Infrastructure Team and is responsible for the advanced design, build‑out, configuration, and lifecycle management of enterprise servers, storage systems, virtualization platforms, and Microsoft 365 services used across the college. This position provides senior‑level technical support and guidance to Campus Technical Coordinators and system staff in resolving complex issues involving server technologies (physical and virtual), Active Directory, Azure Active Directory, group policies, Microsoft Office 365 and enterprise storage environments. The Senior System Administrator ensures all supported systems are secure (in conjunction with Information Security team), resilient, and aligned with institutional objectives, while also contributing to long‑term technology planning, modernization initiatives, and the development of technical standards. Evening and weekend coverage may be required to support scheduled maintenance, system upgrades, and continuity operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Virtual Environment Responsibilities: Configures and maintains Hyper-V virtual environment, including S2D cluster.
- Customer Service: Respond to user reported issues via existing ticket system and process Communicate with management daily to define, monitor & implement strategies and initiatives.
- Systems Administration Responsibilities: Manage, monitor and maintain Enterprise Active Directory, Azure AD, and AD Connect. Support and manage existing scripts used for account provisioning/de-provisioning and automation. All on premise or cloud servers, hardware, storage, and backups. Develop and maintain documentation for supported applications, processes, and training material for internal employees and IT staff.
- Systems Support: Provide problem resolution and support for Active Directory issues, Enterprise Certificates, MS Volume Licensing, Provisioning, De-Provisioning, Daily service ticket processing, and Level 3 support for system problems including identification, troubleshooting, research, resolution and documentation.
- Project Management: Ability to balance and meet scope, timeline, risk management, change management and communication requirements as related to varying SharePoint and data analytics tasks, with appropriate level of autonomy.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a technical field required,
- 7-9 years’ relevant experience in one or more of the following:
- Knowledge of Windows OS, PowerShell, Information Security, SQL databases and general networking
- Server/Network Administration
- Experience with Office 365 Administration
- Experience with SharePoint development, implementation and administration
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Position requires standing or sitting in a stationary position as well as the occasional need to lift, carry, push, and/or move objects up to 50 pounds.
Position also requires the use of computer technology/equipment.
Position requires the ability to receive information in person and over the telephone.
Position requires the ability to convey detailed and important instructions or ideas accurately.
Travel may be required.
