We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer who enjoys contributing solutions in the Release Engineering/DevOps space. Our team is responsible for designing and maintaining the compute resources within the SmartThings Cloud Platform and providing the tooling to deploy software to those resources.
Key Responsibilities
This position is a hybrid role, based onsite 3 days a week at our office in Minneapolis, MN.In this role, your primary responsibilities will include the following:
- Support a large organization in deploying software at scale.
- Architect, design, implement and build tooling and guide capability and process improvements that support the reliability, latency, availability, and scalability of SmartThings internal tooling/ systems/services.
- Create automation to reduce developer overhead so they can spend less time getting a service deployed and more time making the service great.
- Active engagement throughout the software development lifecycle: do this by documenting designs, seeking feedback, iterating on the design
- Participate in cross-functional design discussions and code reviews.

What You Bring On Day One (Required Qualifications)
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Electrical/Computer Engineering or similar discipline
- 5+ years in a software development role
- Experience with Java or Kotlin
- Experience with Kubernetes
- Understanding of CI/CD Implementation
- Understanding of Microservice Architecture
- Customer-focused and interested in enabling SmartThings cloud platform.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills and ability to work well in a diverse, team-focused environment
- 2+ years of experience in a Release Engineering / DevOps role
- Experience with AWS
- Experience with infrastructure automation (eg. using Terraform, CloudFormation, etc.)
- Experience with Spring Boot or equivalent Java Framework
- Experience with Spinnaker for Continuous Delivery
- Experience with Node.js
- Experience with Backstage or other developer portal software
