We are looking for a talented, motivated and experienced Software Engineer with experience in Linux/Android internals. This role includes software design and development, debugging and testing Linux/Android Telephony software. You will work on cellular technologies (4G LTE ,5G) to enable telephony features -voice/data, IMS – VoLTE, Video Telephony, VoWifi, support MSIM and SIM use cases etc. You will interact with various internal cross-functional teams as well as third party OEMs designing, developing and guiding on new features that are scalable, performant and power optimized. This position is with Qualcomm's fully-owned subsidiary, the Qualcomm Innovation Center (QuIC). QuIC is focused on open source software development and participates in the open source community.
Job Responsibilities:
Design, implement and drive new telephony features on Android platform.
Debug and Fix complex problems involving multiple modules from Android UI, framework, middle ware to radio interface layer.
Implement Tools and Test applications to enable and streamline testing process.
Make contributions into Android Open Source Project (AOSP).
Contribute in pre-silicon and post-silicon bring-up of future chipsets
The ideal candidate will have 2+ years of experience in the following areas:
C++ and JAVA/Kotlin programming skills and a good understanding of Data Structures and Algorithms
Android Software Development
Embedded software development on mobile devices.
Software development in Linux environment.
Experience in Object Oriented Design and Development
Additional skills in the following areas are preferred:
Experience in Telephony Domain
Strong debugging skills
Experience using git for development; patch/tree management
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills
Independent and motivated problem solver
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 2+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.OR
Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 1+ year of Software Engineering or related work experience.
OR
PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.
• 2+ years of academic or work experience with Programming Language such as C, C++, Java, Python, etc.
Level of Responsibility:
Working under some supervision.
Making decisions that are moderate in impact; errors may have relatively minor financial impact or effect on projects, operations, or customer relationships; errors may require involvement beyond immediate work group to correct.
Using verbal and written communication skills to convey information that may be somewhat complex to others who may have limited knowledge of the subject in question. May require basic negotiation and influence, cooperation, tact, and diplomacy, etc.
