You are an experienced, motivated engineer who is passionate about software development and building high quality products and services. You thrive working as part of a team of smart, talented engineers and product designers who value efficiency, creativity, and a trusted, collaborative work environment. Responsibilities

• Code primarily in Java and Kotlin and work with technologies like: GraphQL, MySQL, Redis, Kubernetes, Docker; to build and evolve our backend, feed processing and data serving systems, with an emphasis on modular, performant, maintainable code design

• Collaborate with other engineers and our product and design teams, to help define, build. deliver and maintain services and features, support devops, and modernize our tech stacks

• Demonstrate engineering leadership and expertise through technical and architecture design guidance, code reviews, embodying coding best practices, mentoring other engineers, performance optimizing, automated tests, build pipeline and automation support, and writing documentation

• Own and deliver -- from the small must-do tasks, to large, complex projects with many moving parts – this includes leading projects and development initiatives.

• Share your opinions on, and help drive, our technical direction, best practices, product designs/ideas, team processes, peer feedback - we value, and depend on, your input!

 

Minimum Qualifications

• Strong coding chops, code design skills and expertise in software development best practices -- including object-oriented design; writing modular, extensible, reusable, testable code; writing unit tests; data structures; design patterns; performance profiling and tuning

• 6+ years of software development experience and building scalable, performant, high availability backend systems and data services

• Proficiency in modern Java (including Streams, Lambdas, CompletableFutures, etc.), Linux, scripting, HTTP, devops, MySQL, caching frameworks and strategies, git, unit test frameworks, containerization, etc. -- the skills and tools needed to build high performing backend systems and services

• Excellent analytical, problem solving, and debugging skills

• Solid organizational skills and the ability to coordinate and set priorities with other stakeholders and partners, and lead development projects; some management experience is a plus

• The quintessential teammate – high EQ, great communicator, adaptable, supportive, hard working and enjoys a good laugh

• BS in Computer Science or Engineering or equivalent CS training

• Being a sports fan is a plus!
