Job Description

Senior Software Engineer

BYUB maintains three TV channels and two radio stations. In addition to traditional TV and Radio distribution (cable, satellite, over-the- air), we utilize digital media technology to make live TV and radio available to a global audience on many devices.

The BYUB Digital Media Group is responsible for distribution of BYUB media via broadband technology (websites, mobile apps, OTT channels).

The Digital Media Group has three core values: Global Distribution, Innovation, and Quality, which mean:

This position is responsible for designing, developing, testing, and integrating platform infrastructure and client applications that deliver live television and on-demand video, audio, and other metadata to applications on websites, mobile devices, streaming media boxes, game consoles, and other connected devices to a global audience.

What you’ll do in this position:

  • Create and maintain relational and non-relational databases
  • Develop web services and APIs
  • Develop content management systems (CMS)
  • Build platform integrations into 3rd party platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube
  • Develop methods of collecting analytics from software
  • Develop security methods and code
  • Develop backend services and API for websites
  • Develop code for mobile applications for iOS, Android, and Window
  • Develop code for media applications for other connected “over the top” devices like AppleTV, Roku, Xbox, Amazon FireTV, Chromecast and GoogleTV
  • Manage and mentor student developer team

What qualifies you for this role:

Required

  • A firm commitment to the mission of BYU.
  • 3+ years of development experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or 3+ additional years of development experience

Preferred

  • Master’s Degree in a Related Field
  • 5+ years of development experience
  • Experience with AWS

Pay Grade: 55T

Typical Starting Pay: $99,000.00 to $129,000.00
