Walmart+ is pioneering the way people experience online and in-store shopping. We are looking for an experienced engineer to help us design and improve customer membership experience and build a scalable platform.
About Team:
Our team works closely with our US stores and eCommerce business to better serve customers by empowering team members, stores, and merchants with technological innovation. From groceries and entertainment to sporting goods and crafts, Walmart U.S. offers an extensive selection that our customers value, whether they shop online at Walmart.com, through one of our mobile apps, or in-store. Focus areas include customers, stores and employees, in-store service, merchant tools, merchant data science, and search and personalization.
What you'll do:
- Help build the next generation of platform supporting Walmart plus, create applications that serve over 100 million customers, and build high-volume servers to support business.
- Harness passion for technology and advanced-level knowledge, and help build highly-scalable performant solutions.
- Make use of advanced-level knowledge of algorithms, Walmart's tech ecosystem, core computer science concepts and ability to apply knowledge to real world systems.
- Without direct assistance, make the most of ability to recognize and match patterns from different areas of computer science in production systems and hone skill in making architectural decisions.
- Employ deep knowledge across several of these areas: data processing, programming languages, databases, networking and operating systems.
- Design and implement efficient monitoring systems for cloud services in a production environment.
- Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on service operations and quality.
- Develop tools and/or contribute to automation of repetitive tasks to improve productivity and reduce errors/incidents.
- 5% travel to various unanticipated domestic/international locations
- Models compliance with company policies and procedures and supports company mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity by incorporating these into the development and implementation of business plans; using the Open Door Policy; and demonstrating and assisting others with how to apply these in executing business processes and practices.
- Troubleshoot production issues for BE services of W+ platform by reviewing, analyzing information impact, and work on the resolution.
- Design, develop Open Observe (SQL like), Prometheus or similar telemetry dashboards to monitor the W+ platform
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features
What you'll bring:
- Experience designing and implementing RESTful microservices and stream processing services using Java 17/21, Spring Boot, Maven, and Tomcat 9.
