What's the role?

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer II, ML to help evolve Etsy’s ML model serving platform to support Etsy’s growth and democratize machine learning!

As a Senior Software Engineer II, you will be responsible for ensuring our model serving platform can serve innovative models at scale and with low latency. You will partner closely with our customers in product teams across Etsy who are building models that power Etsy’s website, to help them optimize for latency and cost. This is a full-time position reporting to the Senior Engineering Manager, ML Platform and the base salary range will be 171,000 - 201,000 USD per year. In addition to salary, you will also be eligible for an equity package, an annual performance bonus, and our competitive benefits that support you and your family as part of your total rewards package at Etsy. For this role, we are considering candidates based in the United States who are either remote, flex or office-based. What's this team like at Etsy? 

• We build and operate Etsy’s ML model serving platform, which serves all Etsy’s online ML models across Search, Recommendations, Advertising and Trust & Safety
• We work closely with ML engineers and applied scientists in product teams to help them successfully launch new models and achieve the best latency and serving cost
• We partner and integrate with a vendor to provide ML observability so customers can understand the performance of their models over time
• This year we’re working on simplifying the deployment process for new models by inferring the best serving configurations for models

What's the day-to-day look like? 

• Design, build and evolve platform components, services and integrations
• Partner with our customers and support them as they use our platform
• Mentor junior engineers

Qualifications

Qualities that will help you thrive in this role are: 

• Experience in designing and building machine learning systems at scale
• Proven understanding of what it takes to productionize ML models
• Successful track record of platform development, with the interpersonal skills to build relationships with customers and understand their needs
• Ability to mentor more junior engineers and help level up the team around you
