Senior Software Engineer I

LinQuest is seeking a Program Manager to join our team in Dayton, OH. US Citizenship and the ability to obtain a Secret security clearance required.

Job Description:
The Senior Software Engineer I will work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. They will develop feature code while working with other software developers, engineers, and business leaders. They will break down complex problems into smaller, more manageable components. They will be expected to be passionate about software as a craft, be motivated to self-teach, and thrive in dynamic environments. They will take ownership for individual code contributions, both in their validation against requirements and verification against AGILE design principles. They will seek out learning opportunities and exude professionalism while being mentored by more experienced professionals. They will acquire the requisite domain specific subject matter expertise to be effective.

Responsibilities:
• Strive for solution velocity: utilize a disciplined, systematic approach to determining problems and their scope, and inform teammates and project leadership of impediments/blockers.
• Engage in self-study and training to stay current with emerging technologies and processes.
• Assimilate Knowledge of Existing Codebase(s) and Requisite Tooling/Technologies/Skills to be effective.
• Research, design, write, test, debug, and review Feature Code
• Participate in Sprint Planning sessions, Reviews, Daily Stand Ups, and Other Agile Collaboration Activities with teammates, leadership, and product owners.
• Review Pull Requests.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Author project documentation.
• Support test and evaluation events.
• Break down system/subsystem level problems methodically and into their components.
• Architect module design.
• Research and develop algorithms.
• Contribute to overall system design with architects.
• Solicit requirements or feedback from clients and/or product owners.
• Demonstrate software to stakeholders.
• Support the development and configuration of DevOps.
• Design APIs and other system interfaces.
• Discern and assimilate new patterns/frameworks/technologies and demonstrate their benefits/tradeoffs.
• Curate useful training/resources and share with others.
• Build tutorials and training materials.

REQUIRED SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE:

• 6-10 years of software engineering experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineer, or equivalent.
• The motivation and discipline to self-teach to gain new skills as required by new projects and stay current with the latest software development tools and best practices
• Experience producing code in a team setting utilizing modern DevOps toolchains while following agile processes (this includes using Git for source control)
• Passion for solving problems and providing workable solutions
• Knowledge of algorithms, data structures, and the fundamentals of abstraction
