Senior Software Engineer, Cloud Security

As an experienced software engineer in our Network Security Engineering team, you will design, build, and maintain cloud native network security visibility and governance capabilities that power the prevention, monitoring and response missions.  You’ll integrate with tooling and automation enabling builders to build better faster and our Security Operations team to conduct increasingly automated security detection and response activities.

This role is based at our ​h​eadquarters in ​McLean, Virginia. Appian was built on a culture of in-person collaboration, which we believe is a key driver of our mission to be the best. About the job:

• Leverage and contribute to a cloud native platform building and maintaining rugged systems governing data flows and investigative use cases.  

• Partner with security operations analysts, compliance analysts, and builders at the company to create empathic paved path solutions.

• Tune data processing pipeline performance to be dependable and performant and cost efficient.

 

About you:

• 5+ years of experience as a software engineer working on security minded projects in cloud environments.

• 3+ years experience in cloud infrastructure development environments using tools like Terraform or Cloud Formation is a plus

• A tenacious drive to deliver security outcomes

• Experience with AWS Transit Gateway, and Direct Connect

• Knowledgeable in Kubernetes networking technologies such as Cilium or Istio

• Proficiency in Terraform and Golang, Python or Java

• Value data driven decision making

• Strong organizational skills to balance multiple concurrent projects

• Strong written and verbal communication skills that prioritize clarity and empathy for the user.

• Bachelor of Science in Computer science or equivalent experience
