Senior Software Engineer - Backend

Two Six Technologies is looking to add a Senior Software Engineer to work on multi-domain platforms serving critical national security functions. In this role, you will be part of the Gateway and Integrations team that is responsible for supporting various middleware software components ranging from web servers to shared libraries. You’ll be working closely with teams of developers that have experience with these tools to learn them, eventually taking ownership of some aspects of those tools. The ideal candidate for this position will be a self-starter that has a passion for learning and has a history of working on backend systems.

We are seeking candidates who are local to any of the following TST offices, including Arlington, VA, San Antonio, TX, Austin TX or Colorado Springs, CO as the role is hybrid and will require the selected candidate to work in the office up to 3 days/week. 

Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain custom middleware and backend software solutions that integrate into large microservice products
• Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to develop requirements and solutions
• Provide ongoing maintenance, support and enhancements in existing systems and platforms
• Work directly with users in the field to implement new features and debug issues
• Provide technical/functional guidance and support to other team members as needed

 Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 5 years of experience in software engineering or comparable education and relevant experience
• Minimum of 2 years of experience with Java
• Minimum of 1 year with Typescript/Javascript, NodeJS
• Minimum of 1 year with SQL
• Experience developing in a Unix environment
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Eligibility and willingness to obtain and maintain required security clearance up to TS/SCI

Nice if You Have:

• Experience working with VertX, Quarkus, or a similar Java-based web framework
• Experience using Postgres, Docker, Bash scripting
• Experience with building and maintaining reactive servers
• High-throughput low latency servers experience
• Familiar with event-driven architecture and streaming data
• Experience identifying and remediating performance bottlenecks in a large microservice software architecture
• Have worked with telemetry solutions such as OpenTelemetry

The projected salary range listed for this position is annualized. This is a general guideline and not a guarantee of salary. Salary is one component of our total compensation package and the specific salary offered is determined by various factors, including, but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills, geographic location, as well as contract specific affordability and organizational requirements.

Salary Range$91,500—$185,400 USD
