Senior Site Reliability Engineer

Job Description

Isobar Public Sector is seeking a Senior Site Reliability Engineer. Successful candidates should have senior knowledge and hands-on experience in engineering and an innate drive to improve existing systems and processes, with the creativity to develop novel solutions to evolving challenges. In this role you will be responsible for the availability and reliability of critical platform services and applications, ensuring they meet the requirements of internal and external users.

What You’ll Do

• Ensure that DevSecOps principals are followed through the entire software delivery lifecycle.
• Responsible for the availability and reliability of critical platform services and applications, ensuring they meet the requirements of internal and external users.
• Be available to respond to incidents that impact Platform One availability and provide support for service engineers with customer incidents.
• Run the infrastructure with Chef, Ansible, Terraform, GitLab CI/CD, and Kubernetes.
• Build monitoring that alerts on symptoms rather than on outages.
• Document every action so your findings turn into repeatable actions and then into automation.
• Use the GitLab product to run GitLab.com as a first resort and improve the product as much as possible.
• Improve operational processes (such as deployments and upgrades) to make them as boring as possible.
• Design, build and maintain core infrastructure that enables GitLab scaling to support hundreds of thousands of concurrent users.
• Debug production issues across services and levels of the stack.

Who You Are

• A US Citizen and possess an active TS Security Clearance with SCI eligibility.
• Reside in the San Antonio, TX area. Initial training at Lackland AFB with periodic on-site work thereafter.
• 4+ years of hands-on experience in a Senior Site Reliability Engineer role with:
  • SRE principles, practices, tools, and automation
  • Service Level Objectives (SLOs) & Error
  • Budgets
  • Monitoring and Service Level Indicators (SLIs)
  • Anti-fragility, performance management, and
  • incident management
  • Automated testing
• General Knowledge of how to use the following technologies to further the use of DevSecOps in support of system integrity, availability, and security:
  • DoD DevSecOps Reference Design
  • DoD Cloud Environments
  • GitOps
  • Git
  • Kubernetes
  • Terraform, Helm, Ansible, Flux, and Cosign
  • Cloud Computing
  • CI/CD Pipelines
  • Monitoring tools
  • Microservice Architectures
  • Istio, Kyverno, and Gatekeeper
• 3+ years providing technical guidance to more junior team members.
• B.S. in Computer Science or Engineering field and 7+ years of experience contributing on a technical team for a software or IT project.
• Advanced understanding in agile and DevSecOps methodologies.
• Possess and applies a comprehensive knowledge across key tasks and high impact assignments.
• Effectively work with cross-functional teams to get a grasp of a product and/or programs overall state of health.
• Ability to evaluate performance results and recommend major changes affecting short-term project growth and success.
• Expert on the CI/CD process and the overall vision of the program.
• Experience collaborating with business leaders to build and run sustainable production systems.
• Must be certified in one or more of the following: CISSP, CASP+CE or CSSLP or able to obtain within 30 days.
• Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) or Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD) certification is strongly preferred.
• Experience working with Platform One Big Bang is strongly preferred.
