Job Description:

Summary
The Senior Security Technician position is a physical and technical role responsible for installation, upkeep, and operation of the ISU security systems. This position is responsible for installing, testing/troubleshooting, and removing structured cabling pathways and physical network equipment, and other related network responsibilities. Other duties include but are not limited to installation of network-related electrical circuits, and updating incident, service, and change management tickets. The ability to work a flexible off-hours schedule for planned and unplanned maintenance is required.

A Senior Security Technician is detail oriented, self-motivated, possess excellent communication skills, and can troubleshoot while learning new skills, tools, and technologies. They also possess strong time management, organizational, communication, and decision-making skills with the ability to identify, analyze, and solve complex problems.

A Senior Security Technician is a career-level position, demonstrating proficiency and knowledge of structured cabling systems, working under general supervision and leading part time and junior full time staff work, and following mostly established business processes.

Example of Duties
• Provides support for complex network infrastructure components, including network switches and routers.
• Upgrades and troubleshoots all new and existing hardware and software, network systems, email administration, LAN configuration, and administration.
• Monitors all network utilization and capacity and resolves network performance issues.
• Performs network maintenance to ensure network operates correctly with minimal interruption.
• Monitors data traffic and controls network resource performance to ensure high-quality transmission.
• Coordinates and schedules vendors and maintenance providers.

• Senior-level position applies advanced and specialized expertise and competencies
• Typically receives general supervision with high level guidance on the most complex assignments
• Completes assignments which are moderately difficult or difficult
• Resolves issues, including atypical issues, and makes recommendations
• May lead projects of limited scope
• Functions as “go to.” Responds to inquiries and requests from others inside and outside work area
• May act as a lead, assigning tasks and providing guidance to lower level workers
• May provide supervision to one to two other staff or lead a small work team
• Provides guidance to students
