Job Title: Senior Security Specialist – ISSO
Clearance Required: US Citizen; Public Trust
Work Location: Onsite at the Department of Treasury; 1500 Penn Ave, Washington, DC.
Alpha Omega is seeking a qualified Senior Information System Security Officer (ISSO) to join our team to support one of our government customers. The primary responsibilities for the position are to support all activities that ensure the level of security documented with the security authorization is maintained at an acceptable level of risk. The nature of the work requires that the candidate demonstrates initiative, organization, responsibility, customer service skills, and the ability to be flexible and adaptive to a fast-paced, fluid business environment. The candidate must be able to communicate effectively and decisively with all levels of the organization, collaborate within and across teams and be able to solve practical problems as well as exercise sound judgement with regards to sensitive and confidential information.
Key Responsibilities:
The ideal candidate will have real hands-on ISSO experience. They should understand the full RMF process from start to finish, be comfortable working with different IA controls, and have experience using scanning tools and supporting ATO packages. Candidates should know FS-191, operational directives, and compliance requirements, along with a solid grasp of NIST RMF (SP 800-37) and NIST SP 800-53 controls (Rev 4 & Rev 5), CNSSI 1253.
- Provide subject matter expertise to ensure compliance with Treasury, DHS, and NIST cybersecurity policies and frameworks.
- Support the implementation and sustainment of security controls in alignment with the NIST Risk Management Framework (RMF).
- Responsibility for and to assist system owners in maintaining system Authorization to Operate (ATO) status.
- Enhance Treasury’s ability to measure, report, and manage cybersecurity posture and control effectiveness at a maturity level consistent with OIG FISMA Metrics Level 4 (“Managed and Measurable”).
- Strengthen collaboration and information sharing across internal Treasury offices and external partners to support cybersecurity risk reduction and resilience.
- Create and maintain documents like SSPs, POA&Ms, SARs, and other continuous monitoring reports/artifacts.
Required Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field (or commensurate experience and education).
Experience/Skills:
- 5+ years of experience as ISSO.
- Highly responsive to customer needs.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience supporting systems hosted in Cloud environments.
- Experience supporting systems in Agile and DevOps environments
Certifications (Must have one certification):
- Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
- CompTIA Advanced Security Practitioner (CASP)
- Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA)
- Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH)
- Certified Information Security Manager (CISM)
Salary and Benefit Information:
The likely salary range for this position is $86,000 - $120,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position and could fall outside of this range.
