What You Will Do:

We are currently searching for a Senior Scientist.  The position will support the Division of International Science Policy, Planning, and Evaluation (DISPPE). The individual contributes to DISPPE functions and conceptualizes and leads CGHS projects, including conducting formative research, consulting with experts, organizing workshops and training, and collaborating with NIH partners. The Senior Scientist will facilitate deliverables, scientific publications, training resources, networks, and toolkits. The role will manage the scientific and programmatic activities. This is a full-time opportunity located in Bethesda, MD. The position is on-site but may support remote work.

  • Work with staff on the concept development, planning, execution and support of all project-related activities

  • Work with staff on existing projects and/or the development, initiation and execution of new project initiatives.

  • Work with staff to coordinate and plan scientific meetings, including communications with distinguished lecturers, invited guests and participants, registration and meeting logistics.

  • Prepare scientific and programmatic presentation materials such as tables, graphs, slides, abstracts, posters, and overheads by assimilating and mastering the scientific data and programmatic context for use at presentations and meetings.

  • Work with staff to identify key issues and track action items and tasks, providing deadline reminders to Program staff and updating and maintaining spreadsheets of relevant information.

  • Draft funding plans; develop milestones and budgets for current and potential projects; and transition projects through different phases and stages.

  • Define problems; analyze alternatives; recommend solutions to complete problems affecting the conduct of research programs.

What You Will Need:

  • Master’s degree in Biology or life science

  • A minimum of TWO(2) years of experience in biology or another scientific field

  • Experience with conducting scientific research.

  • Demonstrate expertise with Microsoft MS Office Suite


What Would Be Nice To Have:

  • Knowledge of the global health landscape

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work with multidisciplinary teams and foster collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Previous experience with the National Institute of Health (NIH).
