Senior Scientific Programmer/Analyst

Science Systems and Applications, Inc. (SSAI) is seeking a Sr. Scientific Programmer Analyst to support an important mission at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in the development and evaluation of geophysical data products (ocean, land, atmosphere) from spaceborne radiometers and polarimeters.  This position is located at Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, MD.

Duties may include:

• scientific software development, 
• implementation and evaluation of geophysical retrieval algorithms,  
• implementation and evaluation of satellite sensor calibration or geolocation
• development of tools and methodologies to assess and correct for instrumental artifacts in derived geophysical products. 

Required Qualifications:

• Degree in Physical Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics (post graduate education will be considered for professional experience) and 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in the development and analysis of oceanic, terrestrial, or atmospheric science data products from spaceborne radiometers or equivalent combination of education and experience.  
• Strong verbal and written communications skills.  
• US Citizenship Required: The successful candidate must also be eligible for unescorted access to NASA facilities.

Desired Qualifications:

• Experience with Python, C/C++, or Fortran programming languages, 
• Data science, satellite sensor data processing, radiometric calibration, spacecraft flight dynamics experience.
