Job Description:

What You'll Do

Responsible for developing cutting edge research on new modeling approaches and transparent and ethical use of machine learning models, while adhering to enterprise compliance and governance standards. Primary responsibility will be to help expand framework around use of new data and modeling options in various value streams. Analytical skills such as knowledge of machine learning interpretability, fairness, model stability and specialized skills such as knowledge/application of deep learning architectures, graph-based models, reinforcement learning, adversarial learning etc. are a key ingredient in this role. The role will also involve applying fundamental research to solve business problems.

Actively manages and escalates risk and customer-impacting issues within the day-to-day role to management.

How You'll Do It

• Develop innovative analytical and machine learning solutions to solve business-related problems. Perform rigorous numerical, statistical, and mathematical analysis of developed and existing (peer-reviewed) methodologies as benchmark under guidance of more experienced research scientists.
• Propose and validate hypotheses and solutions to improve current ML methodologies at Discover. Prepare and validate prototypical code of innovative solutions in Python/Java/C++/R etc.

Qualifications You'll Need

The Basics

• Bachelors Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Engineering, Econometrics, Information Technology, Analytics, Business Administration and Management or related
• 1+ years Academic Research\Teaching experience or financial industry modeling experience with research focus

Compensation:

The base pay for this position generally ranges between $91,500.00 to $127,900.00. Additional incentives may be provided as part of a market competitive total compensation package. Factors, such as but not limited to, geographical location, relevant experience, education, and skill level may impact the pay for this position.
