Position Specific Description

NextEra Energy Resources (NEER) is building a Renewable Technology Innovation team to transform how we develop utility-scale solar and wind projects — and we’re looking for a Senior Project Manager with deep expertise in solar and wind development or engineering to help lead the charge. This team serves as a center of excellence, driving innovation, optimizing processes, and ensuring best practices are shared across the organization. The role combines strategic thinking with hands-on execution — one day you’ll pilot new technology, while another you’ll lead process improvement workshops. It’s ideal for someone who thrives on turning ideas into action and working across teams to make projects smarter, faster, and more efficient.

 

What You’ll Do:

• Drive Innovation: Implement new technologies and process improvements to enhance portfolio performance, accelerating timelines and improving project returns

• Feasibility & Impact Assessment: Evaluate the commercial viability and risks of new technologies and solutions, ensuring their integration into NEER’s development processes.
• Optimize Processes: Streamline development workflows and standardize best practices to improve efficiency and execution across the portfolio.
• Facilitate Change Management: Lead the adoption of new processes and technologies, ensuring smooth transitions through training, engagement, and support. 
• Collaborate Across Teams: Partner with cross-functional teams to identify gaps, source impactful solutions and ensure alignment across the organization
• Leadership Engagement: Prepare and present insights, recommendations and status updates to senior leadership to ensure strategic alignment and buy-in.

 

What You Bring:

• 5+ years in utility-scale solar and wind development or engineering.
• Master’s degree preferred (e.g., Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related field).
• Deep understanding of the full project lifecycle, from site selection to financing.
• A continuous drive to stay ahead of industry trends and improve project development processes.
• Data-driven approach to decision-making with strong problem-solving skills.
• Proven ability to influence stakeholders and drive change, even in the face of resistance or challenges.

Job Overview

Employees in this role develop and execute plans for new and enhanced generation projects. This job is responsible for resource allocation, schedules, cost and technical adequacy, ensuring the project or transaction is completed in the most cost-effective and competitive manner. This position manages all aspects of the business deal and ensures the project is completed on time and within budgetary constraints.

• Manages all aspects of the day-to-day transaction process to ensure timely completion as well as a cost-effective and competitive result
• Leads and coordinates key functions such as financial feasibility analyses, engineering/design, project legal review, permitting activities and financial negotiations
• Responsible for managing multiple and complex projects 
• Coordinates due diligence activities with other internal groups to ensure proper analysis and structuring of assigned projects
• Acts as liaison between internal and external specialists regarding procurement, contracting, permitting and interconnection
