Position Details:

This position supports NEA’s strategic objective to focus the energy and resources of its 3 million members on promoting public education by providing high-level and detailed administrative, programmatic, and financial support to the Center for Racial and Social Justice.

POSITION SUMMARY: The essential functions of this position include providing high-level specialized financial and program expertise, as well as serving as an administrative and technical resource for Center for Racial and Social Justice programs and projects. The incumbent reviews, writes, and edits departmental reports; processes consultant and travel vouchers; and researches and synthesizes departmental financial data. The incumbent also assists in the planning and execution of conferences/meetings/events, including handling logistical arrangements and providing on-site support; making hotel and travel arrangements; developing and editing materials; coordinating print production; and providing support to committees and events.  The incumbent will provide technical expertise in web content development and maintaining, tracking, and updating related digital properties. The incumbent also works closely with the Center for Racial and Social Justice Manager for Business Affairs in providing the department with support including, but not limited to, developing tracking systems for various departmental reports, coordinating department projects, and implementing NEA policies and procedures.  The incumbent will process and track contractor and vendor contracts; track fiscal resources with NEA external partners;; prepare departmental spreadsheets; and develop and maintain databases, tables and charts. The incumbent may act as a liaison to internal audit and business & finance departments.  In addition, the incumbent provides technical assistance for office computer equipment and serves as a technical liaison.  To carry out these responsibilities, the incumbent uses a personal computer and associated software and travels occasionally.

QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum Education Requirement: Associate degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills may be obtained.  Minimum Qualifications:  Three years of progressively responsible program and administrative experience that must include writing and editing skills, developing presentations, participating in program development, determining implementation strategies, and providing technical program assistance concerning the particulars of a program.  Other Requirements:  must be able to work extended hours on evenings and weekends.  Samples of work products (e.g., reports, correspondence, spreadsheets, databases, and presentation materials) may be required at the time of the interview.  Some travel is required (up to 10 overnights per year).

SELECTION CRITERIA: Tier 1 (Essential):  Proven current experience providing specialized program, administrative, and financial support, including processing vouchers and vendor payments.   Demonstrated skill in coordinating meeting and travel logistics. Demonstrated proficiency in analyzing data used for assisting with budgetary forecasting, and tracking complex expenditures.  Proven advanced skill in the use of word processing, and presentation applications and database, spreadsheet, and financial management software. Demonstrated experience with project management software, tools, and databases. Demonstrated experience and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Sharepoint, Outlook, Word. Excel, Access, Project,  and Powerpoint). Demonstrated ability to project manage, plan and organize. Demonstrated web skills and experience with multimedia, digital, and online platforms.   Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.  Ability to create reports and resources for purposes of tracking work. Advance interpersonal communication and customer service skills to interact with all levels of staff and governance.  Proven ability to handle multiple competing and complex tasks simultaneously under stringent timeframes and changing conditions.  Demonstrated use of sound judgment for decision-making and ability to follow through on tasks with minimal supervision.  Successful references.  Tier 2
