Position Overview: The Senior Materials and Production Planner plays a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless supply of materials to meet production schedules and maintain optimal stock levels. This position is responsible for delivering efficient and flexible solutions to meet production requirements, coordinating the flow of work and materials, and maintaining strong internal and external relationships. The role operates with general supervision and is reviewed by the Supply Planning Director. Decisions made in this role significantly impact the function’s success and operational continuity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Production and Inventory Management: Develop and implement production and inventory management plans to align with material and finished goods requirements, with guidance from the Supply Planning Director.
- Shortage Identification and Recovery: Identify current and potential material shortages, devise and execute recovery plans, and communicate status and recovery strategies to relevant stakeholders, including Purchasing.
- Manufacturing Order Management: Release manufacturing orders based on material requirements planning (MRP) and ensure effective coordination of material flow throughout the production cycle.
- Coordination with Purchasing: Work closely with the Purchasing department to ensure the availability of raw materials and packaging.
- Material Movement Management: Oversee and coordinate the movement of materials between vendors, dispensaries, warehouses, and the production floor.
- Master Production Schedule: Assist in the development, implementation, analysis, and coordination of the master production schedule.
- Bill of Materials and Inventory Accuracy: Set up and monitor the accuracy of Bills of Materials (BOM) and manage inventory accuracy.
- Inventory Checks and Reconciliation: Support inventory checks to validate accuracy, investigate and reconcile discrepancies, and manage monthly cycle counts across all manufacturing locations.
- Safety Stock Evaluation: Periodically evaluate safety stock levels to ensure customer service and net working capital targets are met.
- Reporting and Performance Metrics: Report monthly to S&OP team members on stock positions, risk periods, and demand forecast accuracy. Develop, track, and enhance key performance metrics aligned with business objectives.
- Capacity Planning: Assist in providing site capacity plans on a 4-week and 13-week basis.
- Compliance Support: Collaborate with the compliance team to draft forms and processes to maintain departmental compliance.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of relevant experience in manufacturing planning, inventory control, or materials planning roles.
- Work Environment: Proven ability to manage and prioritize a high volume of work in a fast-paced environment.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Certifications: APICS certification is a plus.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong proficiency with ERP Systems, especially MRP systems. Experience with MS Dynamics (F&O) is advantageous.
- Performance Metrics: Knowledge of key inventory performance metrics and KPIs.
- Adaptability: Ability to be agile and adaptable to changing priorities.
- Collaboration: Team player with the ability to build consensus through collaboration and open dialogue.
- Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail with an understanding of the “big picture.”
- Methodology Experience: Experience with Lean, Agile, and SCRUM methodologies is a plus.
- Energy and Initiative: High sense of urgency, energy, and a hands-on approach.
