Role Description

Form Energy is hiring a Senior Process Engineer to join our Cathode Engineering team, initially based in our Eighty-Four, PA, facility but eventually transitioning to our Weirton, WV facility. This role will contribute to developing and validating processes for manufacturing part of Form Energy’s commercial product.

This role is integral to the development of our battery, working with equipment design engineers, cell design engineers, material scientists, supply chain, operations, facilities, and outside consultants to initially improve existing manufacturing techniques. This role will develop and deliver high-budget, high-volume processes at our new production facilities. You can expect to start with experiments and production trials at the pilot scale and then focus on one or more of the developments of calendaring, drying, and lamination processes used to produce materials for our commercial product. As we design, build, and ramp up equipment operations and manufacturing, you will bring expertise and process experience, becoming the subject matter expert for part of our manufacturing process.

What you'll do:

  • Apply industry standards and best practices to deliver world-class, safe, efficient manufacturing techniques and processes

  • Partner with manufacturing engineering and R&D to validate new production methods

  • Work with manufacturing engineering and supply chain teams to identify and partner with OEMs

  • Provide subject matter expert input into equipment and manufacturing line design 

  • Engage, mentor, and train technicians, process engineers, and scientists on new manufacturing equipment and processes

  • Be a champion for safety in developing new equipment and processes

What you'll bring:

  • A degree in Engineering or a related field; min bachelor's with 5+ years of relevant pilot line or manufacturing 

  • Demonstrated experience in improving existing and establishing new processes, and the design and operation of materials processing equipment 

  • Experience in one or more of the following equipment areas: ovens, extrusion hydraulics, powders, thermal transfer, drying, lamination, etc.

  • Highly desired (not required) experience landing equipment, installing equipment, roll-to-roll extrusion technologies, or experience with PHA (process hazard analysis)

  • Well-developed communication, collaboration, and engagement skills working with a variety of teams and stakeholders

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, startup environment
