OnsiteThe CNS Surveillance Department in Melbourne, Florida is seeking to fill a Senior Principal Level Project Engineering position. The primary responsibility for this position will be to support the sustainment of our CISS (Configurable Integrated Surveillance System) for commercial aerospace platforms. The engineer who fills this position must demonstrate a high level of professional competence and a knowledge of the principles and techniques commonly used in developing and qualifying commercial avionics. The selected candidate will perform assignments requiring the use and application of project management principles and techniques and lead a multiple discipline team in the development of system, software, and hardware in support of new product developments.
This is an onsite position based in Melbourne, Florida. Relocation assistance may be available.
Job Responsibilities:
- Lead Multidisciplinary team (Systems, hardware, software, operations etc.) to support of CISS product.
- Keeps project development activities on track and reports on progress. This can include bidding and estimation, cost and schedule management, providing technical guidance to the team, and collaborating with the Engineering leader on staffing needs.
- Provide project management and technical direction during all program phases including bidding, planning, execution, certification, and production transitioning.
- Identify and resolve project obstacles to minimize disruption to project schedules to ensure smooth project operations while managing scope and risk.
- Analyze data gathered and develop solutions or alternative methods of proceeding to optimize performance and increase efficiency of work.
- Create collaborative team cultures that drive predictable program performance to consistently meet business and customer commitments.
- Communicating effectively to a host of stakeholders across the technical spectrum, including customers, program management and senior leadership.
- 10% Travel to customer or different sites to support program execution.
Qualifications you must have:
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience.
- Experience in leading embedded system design and development.
- Experience in managing technical projects including schedule, earned value management, risk management and customer interaction.
- Excellent communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with flight deck design concepts and operational certification requirements.
- Experience with safety-critical, real-time, embedded system development.
- Experience with avionics or other aircraft system development and certification.
- Experience developing systems that are compliant with ARP-4754, RTCA DO-178, DO-160 and DO-254.
- Experience with leading multidisciplinary team in both Agile and waterfall development methods.
