POSITION DESCRIPTION:

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior PowerBuilder Developer to join our IT Services team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in PowerBuilder 2019 R3 and Oracle 19c, with a strong background in developing and maintaining complex applications. In this role, you will work closely with other developers, business analysts, and stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of projects.

RESPONSIBILITES:

• Design, develop, and maintain applications using PowerBuilder 2019 R3.
• Integrate PowerBuilder applications with Oracle 19c databases.
• Perform coding, debugging, testing, and troubleshooting of applications to ensure optimal performance and quality.
• Analyze user requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
• Design and develop application architectures and data models that meet business requirements.
• Optimize and refactor existing code to improve performance and maintainability.
• Develop and maintain complex database queries, stored procedures, and triggers in Oracle 19c.
• Ensure data integrity and security within the applications.
• Perform database performance tuning and optimization.
• Collaborate with business analysts, project managers, and other stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver solutions.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior developers.
• Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices.
• Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for application development, deployment, and maintenance processes.
• Generate reports and dashboards to support business operations and decision-making.
• Stay up to date with the latest developments in PowerBuilder and Oracle technologies.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices.

Requirements

NON-TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be a US Citizen
• Ability to pass a 7 year background check and be able to obtain a US Public Trust.
• Must live in and currently reside in the Washington D.C. metro area (DC/MD/VA).
• Must be willing to be onsite periodically for on-site meetings or to handle emergencies and tasks that require hands-on attention.

MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS:

• Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field and a minimum of 7 years of experience in software development with a focus on PowerBuilder.
• Extensive experience with PowerBuilder 2019 R3.
• Strong knowledge of Oracle 19c, including PL/SQL, stored procedures, and performance tuning.
• Proven ability to develop complex applications and integrate them with relational databases.
• Strong understanding of software development lifecycle, including coding, testing, debugging, and documentation.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

DESIRED REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS:

• Experience with other database technologies and development tools.
• Knowledge of modern development methodologies and frameworks.
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development methodologies.
• Experience in a senior or lead developer role.
• Knowledge of data warehousing and business intelligence concepts.
• Experience with version control systems such as Git.

Salary Description Up to $125,000 (based on pertinent experience)
