About Houston-Galveston Area Council   

The Houston-Galveston Area Council is one of the largest regional planning commissions in the country with a diverse service area of 13 counties and more than 7 million people. We are the pulse of our region addressing issues that cross city limits and county lines every single day.

What will I be doing?  

ü  Developing, negotiating, managing, amending, and closing out contracts and grants for the workforce system

ü  Establishing relationships and meeting with system contractors to manage work according to workforce board guidance

ü  Reviewing, reporting, documenting, and presenting contractor performance and adjusting plans and goals as needed

ü  Participating and occasionally leading various workgroups

ü  Analyzing, interpreting, and presenting workforce information to various stakeholders and internal staff

ü  Reviewing fiscal information and making recommendations that influence our system budgeting

ü  Reading, reviewing, interpreting, and enacting written guidance from state, federal, and local governments 

ü  Developing, amending, and managing Memorandums of Understanding with external partners

ü  Drafting Letters of Support for partners applying for public and private grant opportunities

Key Qualifications  

ü  Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

ü  Previous experience drafting and managing contracts

ü  Effective time management skills and strong attention to detail

ü  Ability to analyze, interpret and present strategies, leading to successful deliverables and outcomes

ü  Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suites and SharePoint

ü  Able to thrive in a faced paced environment

 

 Do you have…  

ü  Bachelor’s degree in an applicable academic discipline or related field of study   

ü  5 years of experience working with local government, nonprofit programs, schools or in similar job-related duties
